About passportcalculator.com
passportcalculator.com is an unofficial tool built to help US passport applicants estimate fees and processing times. We are not the U.S. Department of State, a passport agency, or an acceptance facility. We don't file applications, book appointments, or collect government fees.

Where fee data comes from
Fee amounts live in a database a human can edit. They were seeded from the published schedule and must be checked against travel.state.gov whenever that page changes. A watch job fetches the official fee HTML and logs whether known dollar strings still appear. It does not silently overwrite totals on the live site.
Processing times and photo estimates
Processing times are published ranges from the same official sources, not guarantees. Photo prices are a typical third-party estimate, not a government line item. If you spot a wrong number, trust the government page and tell us through the contact path on this site.
Affiliates and optional email
Optional email on the results page sends the same breakdown you already saw. Affiliate links for photos and private expediters use rel="sponsored" and are never required to see the total. The official DIY path always comes first.
We calculate totals and link to official apply and renew URLs. We do not look like the government, gate the total behind an email, or sell appointments. Every indexable page carries a short disclaimer with the last-updated date and a link to travel.state.gov.
How we keep content current
When the State Department publishes new fees or processing ranges, we update the fee config and rebuild indexable pages so the first HTML response already shows the dollar total or week range. Sitemap last-mod dates follow the fee-config date, not an arbitrary “today.”
What we are building toward
Phase 1 is a wizard, fee engine, and results. We are not running Postgres, admin dashboards, scraping, or email capture at scale yet. The goal is a fast, trustworthy estimate with official links, not a replacement for travel.state.gov.
